The Woodward is anything but ordinary. A true boutique hotel experience, we are independently, locally-owned and operated by a passionate and vivacious team committed to sharing the beauty of our small city. Each room in our historic property is a unique gem, featuring local fine art, vintage books, sustainable flowers, and designer furniture and linens.

We’re named after our proprietor’s grandfather, Dr. Benjamin Woodward Griffith, Jr., who was a celebrated professor of English, folklorist, and WWII Navy veteran, and writer. In his honor, we feature nods to Southern literature (and lots of great books!) in every room and in our bar, Quill.
